Gretel and Hansel, sister and brother, were driven out of their home by their mad mother. In search of food and safe shelter, destitute teenagers wander through the gloomy forest, encountering numerous obstacles along the way. Some time later, Gretel and Hansel come across a forest house belonging to Holda, an elderly woman who is happy to accept the starving heroes. Emboldened, the brother and sister accept the invitation to stay, unaware that something worse than hunger and cold is waiting for them in the near future.
